Anna Lindh Foundation Announces Arabic Children’s Book ‘Honor List’

It’s raining awards in the world of Arabic children’s lit!

Today, the Alexandria-based Anna Lindh Foundation announced its 10-strong “honor list” for the foundation’s upcoming 101 books exhibition.

The list—which shares two titles with the longlist for the Etisalat Prize for Arabic Literature—is meant to, in the foundation’s words, “draw attention to a creative surge in Arab children’s literature.”

The exhibition, which was held for the first time last year, will be organized this year across Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria, with the aim of providing a quality Arabic-language story books to a broad range of children.

According to a release from ALF, selections were made from among more than 360 eligible titles from eleven countries. The ALF took special pains to ensure diversity in terms of country of origin, writer, illustrator and publishing house, as well as themes and reading levels.

Titles that also appear on the Etisalat shortlist are ** starred.

The honor list (drumroll please):
