Don’t-Miss Children’s Book Event in Cairo: Walid Taher at Al-Balsam Bookstore

Walid visiting the Al-Balsam bookstore....

I haven’t heard an event-related peep from Shorouk stores (strange, since Dar el Shorouk is the publisher of Walid Taher‘s Etisalat-shortlisted النقطة السوداء). But, thankfully, Al-Balsam Books has just announced a Taher extravaganza three days before the 1 million AED Etisalat winner will be announced in Sharjah.

The Walid Taher event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, the 23rd of October, starting at 6 p.m., at Al-Balsam Bookstore. (Please note that there is a parking garage around the corner from the bookstore; don’t be late because you’re looking for a spot!)

It was only last night that my husband came home with the book, so I haven’t read it. But my husband read it to the boys at bedtime, and he says “it’s really awesome.” (Yep, that’s a quote.) My seven-year-old adds “I loved it.”

If you and your children haven’t yet read any of Taher’s books (not even فيزو يعرف…يعرف? are you serious?) well, there’s always time to start!

I am so thrilled to have found your website. I really believe we need to do so much more to encourage children to read in Arabic, and your site is such a great resource! Thank you!
