Get Inspired by Taghreed Najjar, Invite an Author to Your Child’s School!

This past Tuesday, acclaimed children’s-book author Taghreed Najjar’s visited Jordan’s IAA school, where she read to children.

You can see an album full of delighted, attentive, learning, happy children on Facebook.

You can do the same for your school! Help our children discover that Arabic is about more than copying, filling in blanks, and grammar exercises: It is also a language of beauty, clarity, fun, and creative power.

If you don’t know any local authors, you can check out the Anna Lindh list of “101 notable Arabic children’s books,” visit your local children’s bookstore, and consult with your child’s Arabic teacher or teachers.

She even visited Arabic speaking children in schools in Stockholm, during the International Librarys International Childrens’ Book Week in 2006!
