What if McDonald’s Encouraged Parents to Buy Books, Not Toys? (In Qatar, They Will)

To support a fund-raiser for Qatar’s Al Shafallah Center, McDonald’s Qatar will be (for a limited time, I assume) encouraging customers to buy children’s books that were specifically developed for the campaign.

Proceeds will go to the Al Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs.

Four children’s books—in both English and Arabic—were developed for the campaign, and are being sold for QR5 each at participating McDonald’s restaurants. I think this is about the same as 5 EGP. (Doesn’t everyone make currency estimates based on Egyptian pounds?)

A release promises “simple and entertaining stories that are easy for children to read and enjoy….” It’s difficult to tell what the books might be like from the size of the picture, and I’m generally wary about books that promise to teach a lesson, but “entertaining” and “enjoy” sound promising!
